"Celebrating 100 Podcast Episodes" - Unveiling Our First Recording Ever w/ Moses Calvillo
In this special 100th episode of the 'Wrong to Strong Chicago' podcast, host Omar Calvillo celebrates the milestone along with his youngest son, Moses Omar Calvillo. Omar introduces the episode by expressing gratitude to their listeners and supporters, highlighting the show's journey and thanking past guests who have shared their stories. The episode features the very first recording ever made for the podcast, an unscripted and humorous telephone interaction between Omar, his wife, and his children, Moses and Angelina. The recording showcases Moses' creative storytelling as he adopts a character voice and creates a spontaneous narrative. The episode provides a light-hearted break from the typically serious content, as well as an opportunity for Omar and Moses to reflect on the joy and growth of the podcast over time. So shout out to all the men and all the women that have contributed to the two minute devotionals. You guys have been a big part of what we're doing here. So man, we're just grateful and thankful. Um, I got my son Moses here. Like I said, no, going back to the reason we're here, we're here to celebrate the 100 episode. So what you're going to get ready to hear is. I guess we gotta set up the story. I guess you guys understand what you're going to be listening to. So, back in September of 2022, I ordered my equipment, right? So, you could probably see it here on my table. I had my recorder, had the mic set up. So, what you're going to hear in this interview, you're going to hear four people. It's going to be me and my wife who are sitting here. And what, what's happening at the time, um, you know, I'm, I'm messing with my recorder here. I'm trying to figure out the functions, you know, what, what does, what, how to work, you know, the buttons and everything. So, so at this point I told my son, Moses, I told him, Hey go on your phone and go upstairs and call me. To the recorder because I wanted to see if the Bluetooth function worked. Basically, I wanted to test if I could do, uh, phone interviews, you know, like people from other states, if they could call in and I could interview them, you know, just by headphones at that point, we don't have no camera. So we're strictly the recorder. All my interviews were just audio. So there was only audio recordings happening. So I told Moses, Hey, man, go upstairs, call me in. So set up the Bluetooth. He calls in. And take us from there, Moses, like, tell, tell, tell us what happened. But don't share what, what you said.'cause I want him to hear. But maybe GG give give you your take, you know? So, hey, first of all, how, how old are, are you right now, Moses? Oh, I'm 17. Okay. So at this point you are what, at that point you were like, what? Maybe 13, 14. Oh, was it? It was two and a half years ago. So it was it two and a half? 14. 14 through 15, somewhere. So, so it's all right. So you go upstairs and tell us what happens, man.
Moses:Okay. So basically, like he said, they wanted to test out like the Bluetooth feature. So basically we just go upstairs. Me and my sister, Angelina, she's older than me. So we get on the phone and, uh, I'm not going to spoil the story and stuff. But basically we just started like making up this story on the spot like really bizarre just going with it And we both get like super in character and like the entire time we're doing this like my mom and my dad are like Cackling go because we're just keep going So it was just it was super fun to do that. Like it's cuz Like me and my sister we do that all the time like me and Angelina do that all the time just making up stories in The spot just for the fun of it. So it just came naturally. So it's super fun to
Omar:do that. Yeah, it was it was so Basically when he called in I was I just wanted to hear his voice. I just wanted to know Hey, Moses. Hey, you know, does it work? Okay, good. But when you called in, you turn into a character. How, how, what, what made you come up with that character without, you know, like,
Moses:you know, uh, I don't know. It just comes on the spot like. You know, if I, if I want to like make a joke or something like, Hey, I'll make a character, do a voice and just start making a story
Omar:and I'll go with it. See if it works or not. Yeah. Yeah. And I, let me tell you guys, this one really worked, man. Had me and my wife cracking up down here. Uh, I hope you find, uh, you guys find it a funny as well. Yeah. You know, um, a big, uh, uh, um, apology in advance if you're from the You know, from whatever area that this guy turned his character into, I apologize. I don't know why he picked that part of the country or, or that voice or what's, uh, that's not the voice. It's the, uh, the dialect. There you go. My accent. Yeah. He did an accent. He did a dialect. So man, he came up with a whole character on the spot, but, uh, man, that's one thing about you Moses. Oh, you're very creative, man. You, you, you, you know, before we share it and you don't talk about it, like, well, what do you do? For fun, maybe like on youtube and uh, you know, tick
Moses:tock. Oh, oh, so basically for the most part Uh, I like collect the action figures and stuff. So sometimes i'll do like a stop motion That's basically like, you know taking shot by shot to make like a video takes a long time, but I love doing it It's like just been super fun to do that. So definitely, uh, I enjoyed that a lot So I like to do that my free time.
Omar:Got it. Got it And uh at the end after this, you know, we'll probably share anything you want to say before we play more like Intro or a way to introduce it or
Moses:um, I'd say just just get ready That's all I gotta say get some popcorn and get relaxed get the family, you know, just get ready for a good laugh
Omar:All right, so like I said we did this it was me and my wife and uh, my two kids We didn't plan it. It was spontaneous and we just rolled with it. So what you're gonna hear is a podcast and my wife told me you better not ever share it And I told her if I ever get to 100 episodes, this is gonna be my 100 episode So what you're gonna hear right now is our first recording ever here on the wrong to strong podcast. So here we go
Moses:close community But in that community there were many hooligans if you will And these hooligans were my friends, unfortunately. And as a farmer boy, there were many gangs. The notorious ones. The Children of the Corn. The Milking Mothers. The Paparazzi Popcorn. The Vile Vermin. All sorts of things. Of such.
Omar:Man, that sounds pretty deep living in the in the woods and in the farmland. Well, we'll in the hoodlum if
Moses:you will
Omar:Uh, well, what state do do you recite in mr. Rancherson Alabama Oh, nice. Nice to have you here.
Ann:I have a few friends from Alabama. Really? Who do you know? I might know them. Well, I know Miss, uh, Watson. Miss
Moses:Watson's right here! Hey, I'm gonna give you the phone, Miss Watson. Hello?
Ann:Hey, Miss Watson, how are you? Huh? Hello, Miss Watson. Yeah? How are you? I'm doing great. How about yourself? I can't hear you. I say I'm doing great. How about you self?, oh my goodness. I, it's been such a long time. I've missed your voice, really. I, I get that a lot, to be honest. So how are you doing? Good. Good. Yup! How do you know Mr. Ratchertson? Mr. Ratchet? Yeah. Can
Omar:you put uh, Mr. Ratchet back on?
Moses:Huh?
Omar:Can you put Mr. Ratcherson back on?
Moses:Mm hmm. Go. Hello?
Omar:Yeah, uh, you want to continue with your uh, testimony story you wanted to share with us?
Moses:Oh yeah, yeah, of course. Uh, so basically, you know, it's one story mainly. When I was walking down the street with my friends of"hoodlums", if you will, we called ourselves the Devious Ducks. We like to say by the pond, that was our gang territory. But one day as I was walking down the street, I heard a bell. Loud bells, and that bell led to a church house. I walked into the church house, and I saw big, big doors. I heard a ceremony going on, voices singing hallelujahs and praises. I opened those doors and I walked through. I saw so many faces I recognized, and there they were at the altar crying. I knew this was the place I belonged. I turned away from my duckish life and into the life of renewal. No longer was I a daffety, devious duck, but now I was a child of God.
That was a, that right there was a transforming story, wrong to strong, from a duck hooligan. To thank you a renewed life. Well, I gotta tell you I gotta tell you mr. Ratchet. I did not see that coming
Moses:Thank you, ma'am. Thank you
Yeah, you're you're welcome
Omar:So, um, how do your hooligan friends? Uh feel about your the dramatic change that took place in your life
Moses:Well at first they were against it As I supposed, they quacked at me and called me a fool. I was so devastated, but I kept sharing. I kept pushing forward. I kept pushing them as well. And they waddled on their way to church with me. I saved my hooligan ducks, and we became renewed. I still am friends with them today. No longer are we ducks of the devil. We are children of God.
Wow, I gotta say that that is a story. That is a testimony and I'm so glad that your friends waddled to the light.
Moses:Thank you, ma'am. Thank you.
Omar:Um, as I'm just picturing this, I could see all of you just shaking your tail feathers together. For the Lord. We were. We were.
Okay. Next.
Omar:Thank you for calling in, Mr. Ratchertson. We appreciate your call and thank you for supporting our show.
Moses:You're welcome.
Omar:You take care and you be blessed, sir.
Moses:You
Omar:too, sir.
All right.
Omar:All right, Mr. Moe, what do you think, man, after listening back to that, man?
Moses:Oh, it brings back good memories. Lots of good laughs, man. I love that. I love
Omar:that so much. Yeah, yeah. No, that was good, man. So, like I said, I hope you guys, man, enjoy that. I know on here on this podcast, man, we share some real, some raw stories. But, man, I think every now and then, you know, we need to lighten it up. Have a good laugh. And, man, we hope you enjoy this. But, man. Thank you guys for helping us get to 100 episodes and Moe, you know what, uh, share where they could find some of your work, man. Some of those videos on YouTube or TikTok, you know, so they can see how creative you are. Cause man, if you guys enjoy just how quickly he got into character and man was able to come on, man, this guy's a funny guy, man, you know, for not, not funny like a clown though, you know, well, well funny, you know, but, uh, man, yeah, sure, share. Moe, they can see your creativity, man, what you're able to do, man.
Moses:Um, I mean you can always check my youtube channel. I've been a little bit busy with school though So I haven't uploaded anything. I
Omar:did check out some of the old stuff, you know
Moses:Yeah, or like a tiktok instagram. I post stuff on there sometimes just you know for fun and stuff So you could also check those out and tiktok. What is it? Uh, what are you under? I don't remember my username, but if you should show my name I should show up. That's moses. Uh Calvillo. Yeah Yeah, m o s e s. Uh c a l v i l l o Oh, man, you know how to spell it's awesome, man. Yeah, I know it's crazy
Omar:I learned a lot in the last like three years, you know That's right, man, so man with that we just want to thank you guys for joining us Thank you. Um, man from the bottom of my heart for uh, helping us get to to this point, you know If nobody was listening, I don't think I keep doing this man, but you know the downloads keep keep coming The messages, you know, so send us a message if you've been a blessed by by this podcast man This podcast we do it to encourage you guys to you know, give you hope through the testimonies But how many you know that we also need to be encouraged so, you know send us a message email, go on our social media, leave us a comment or post on YouTube, right on the comments of the videos, you know, to tell us, um, what would this podcast has been doing? Please continue to share these stories. Once you listen to one, share it right away, share it with at least two people that you think might be encouraged by listening to the whatever, um, testimonial or two minute devotional you just heard. So we thank you for the support. Thank you for the love. Well, the reason why I wanted to record this 100 episode today is because it's March 16, which is 316. And in the Bible, you know, John chapter 3, verse 16 is very big. So you know, we usually close out with a certain scripture, but before we get there, I want my son to read, uh, John 3, 16. Since today is 316 25. Go ahead Moses. All right. So this
Moses:is John 316 for this is how God loved the world He gave his one and only son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life
Omar:Amen. Amen. And that's one thing we want to do through this podcast. These are stories of redemption that point people to Christ, that's what this podcast is about, you know so hey Moses, I'm gonna ask you something I don't think I told you to do Prepare didn't prepare you for this but man, we'll put you on the spot every time I have a guest on here I ask him to close us out in the prayer Moses. So go ahead. He closes out in a prayer. Yeah,
Moses:I got
Omar:you
Moses:All right God, thank you for today, Lord. Thank you for giving us this time to record this hundredth episode, Father God. Right now, I just thank you for blessing this podcast, Lord. I pray that you just continue to draw people close to you, Father God. I pray that these podcasts will just, uh, just inspire people, Lord, to just seek you, Father God. That they will know that through these testimonies, Lord, that you have been working in these people, Father God. And that People anyone and everyone could receive that same freedom lord by seeking you father god So I pray you just open the eyes of the people who have not seen you lord and just uh soften their hearts father god I pray as we continue this podcast lord as my dad continues this podcast father god That you would just continue to pour out your love that you will continue to fill My dad with the holy spirit lord and that you would just continue to just be here. Father God. So I pray that you just, uh, bless today Lord. Bless the work of our hands. Father God, and continue working mightily in my family, Lord. So I pray this all in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
Omar:Amen. In Jesus name. Amen. Thank you for that mo. So with that, thank you guys, all the love and support. We thank you for the bottom of our hearts. If you guys want to contribute to the work we're doing here This is all like funded by us So there's a link and then the comment sections you'll find a link If you're inspired if you're blessed by the work what we're doing and you want to partner up There's a there's a way for you to contribute monthly Three dollars a month five dollars eight dollars or or ten dollars a month, which is not much, you know So if this is a blessing to you You want to contribute, you want to be part of the wrong to strong team, the wrong to strong family. Definitely man, we would definitely appreciate your financial support. If you can't support us financially, continue to pray for us. We need all the prayers we could get as we're doing these stories, you know, the attacks from the enemy come, but we're going to persevere. We're going to push through and continue to glorify our heavenly father, you know, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So with that Moe, any final word.
Moses:Um, you know, just, uh, thanks for tuning in. I hope you guys have a blessed day and, uh, yeah, you know, have a good Sunday.
Omar:Amen. And the rest of your life was a, whatever it is, you do listen to this, but with that. We are gonna get ready to wrap up. Uh, Matthew four 16 reads, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawn alongside my guest, Moses Omar Calvillo. I'm your host Omar Calvillo, and we are wrong to strong, strong.
Oh
